My God Lives

Psalm 115:4-8

Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands.

They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see.

They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell.

They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk;

And they do not make a sound in their throat.

Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them.

I am so thankful my God is personal.  He speaks, He sees, and He listens.  He gave everything for me and gave me everything I have.  He loves me and He knows my name.

My God lives.

But like the idol worshippers, I can fall into the same trap of idolatry when anything outside of God Himself takes lordship of my heart and mind.  School, sports, relationships, you name it; we can all be surprisingly quick to construct our own idols; ‘gods’ just as empty as the idols of silver and gold spoken of here.

LORD, lead me on to love and good deeds.  Thank you for being my friend.  Continue to work on my heart and mind.  AMEN
