Eyes On The Prize

Hebrews 12:1-2  “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress.  And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish.  He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward.  Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God’s throne in heaven.”

Don’t give up.  Don’t give in.  Don’t stop.  Keep at it.  Look at what other people have endured, gone through, suffered, and experienced.  In the midst of all of that they stayed faithful, they persevered, they endured, they received God’s approval because of their faith.  So with that in mind and with those examples to follow, the call on my life, the responsibility I have is to keep on running.  Get rid of any garbage and stuff that would hold me back and keep on running this race of life that the Lord has marked out for me.  And the only way I am going to do that successfully is to keep my eyes on Jesus Christ, the “author and perfecter of my faith.”  “He who began a good work in me, will be faithful to complete it.”  Jesus was willing to go to the cross for me.  I need to be willing to keep on living, daily for him.

The challenge for my life today is to stay focused, keep living for Jesus, don’t give up, and hold on to what I know and believe.

Jesus thank you for what you endured and went through so that I could have eternal life.  Forgive me for the times that I “forget” that or just don’t think about it.  Help me Lord to throw sin off and to put you on today.  Strengthen my faith in you today Lord and please continue to show me the path that you have marked out for me.

    Yes Matt!

Thanks for the encouragement! I need to remember to “strip off” the excess weight in life run for Jesus with agility and endurance. Help me to do that, Lord!

Having had day-surgery early this morning, I’m not exactly up to the concept of running a race right now, but I have a great opportunity during my recovery to mentally unload that which hinders my speed, so that when my body is again willing, I’ll be back in the race with added vigor.

    blessings to you,
    Michael

Thanks for the response. Praying for you to have a quick recovery and some to relax and rest. Take care.
