Eric Clarke, 20/30 Something and Renewal Ministries Pastor

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

Tammy and I have been married for 26 years. We have been blest with three wonderful children. First Baptist Church is my home church. I first started coming here in 1973. I began serving here on staff in 1997 with the 20/30 Something Ministry. In the last year I have been priviledged to serve with a number of minstries and their leadership teams. These ministries fall under the Renewal Minstry umbrella (you can find out more about Renewal Ministries on the church web site, www.fbceugene.org) In addition to my passion for ministry, I enjoy whitewater rafting, golfing, and travel. I will contribute my journal entry on Mondays, and I have asked a few others to join me on a semi-regular basis.

Michael Jenks, A little about me.

I have been going to First B since about December of 04. I accepted Christ in/around that time, did a little church home searching, then for some reason unknown to me at the time decided on First B. Since then, I have completely sold out to Jesus, my Lord and Saviour. I am a member of the 20/30 Something ministrie which meets sunday during the second service. This place has been iron to me, helping me grow in Christ and giving me a place that I can return His love to other believers as well as non-believers through our activites. First B has been a great home and I am excited to see where God will take me in the future. I have made many new friends, met many interesting brothers and sisters in Christ; I always enjoy meeting the whole family and Body of Christ.

My husband, Chris, and I have recently begun the empty nest phase of life.  Our two children are getting educations needed for living as adults.  It has been my joy to be involved with Women’s Ministries for the past 4 years and my family has been worshiping at First B for 13 years. I pray my life will change as I journal this year and share with you every Thursday.

I have been the high school pastor at First Baptist since 1983.  I am a native Oregonian who has been in the area since 1964. I grew up going to this church. My passion for this age group comes out of my personal experience in high school when my life was marked by a young life leader. I have been married to Luci since August of 1983. I have three sons with very active lives.

Dave Mertz, Associate Worship Pastor/Harlow Program Director

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

My first connection with Camp Harlow and First Baptist was in the early 80’s when I was in high school at South Eugene. Little did I know then that I would join the pastoral staff team in 1986 and be serving twenty years later in leadership at Camp Harlow and the worship ministries of First B. It continues to be a blessing to be involved ministries where people of all ages are “growing up” in Christ. Carrie, my high school sweetheart, and I were married in 1986 and have been blessed with three great kids.

Matt Erdmann, Mid-School Pastor

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

I’ve been the Mid-School Pastor at First B for 5 years.  I totally “dig” mid-school students and thoroughly enjoy connecting with them and helping them grow in Christ.  My wife Paula and I have three kids, Kevin, Brian, and Emily.  I enjoy time with my family, anything sports oriented, and playing board games.  I’m looking forward to this new opportunity to journal and interact with the Word on a daily basis.  It’ll be fun to see where God leads and how He’ll work through the process.  Looking forward to your comments and responses!!!

Phares and I have been married for 23 years and have three great kids, all involved in ministry. 1st B has been our church since moving to Eugene in 1983. I joined the church staff in 1991 and love this job. Each week I preach in the 3rd Hour and enjoy that opportunity a great deal. I will contribute my journal entry on Wednesdays, and have asked a few others to join me.
