Change is good!

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

RequestsBased on your comments from the surveys we received last Sunday, we are going to make some changes on the web log. First, your posts are no longer going to be reviewed by the staff. The delay this review causes seems to limit both comments and interaction. All we ask is that you keep your comments relevant to the day’s readings and/or postings. Second, you do not need to enter your name if you care to be anonymous. This may help some feel a freedom to join in. If you don’t want to be known just enter “withheld” in the name box.

You will notice in my post below I have not really offered my thoughts; rather I have raised a few questions from today’s text in John. It is my hope that many would respond to the questions and give us their thoughts. This is my attempt to make today a bit more of a dialogue rather than a monologue. I hope you will join in. Thanks,
Brett

How is journaling going for you?

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

This month we have had over 1000 hits on the Disciplines of Grace website, for that we are thankful. We have noticed, though, that not many people are leaving thoughts or comments. We have included the comments area for asking questions and to encourage discussion. Remember, you don’t need to write anything lengthy or profound. I am going to ask you to do us a favor… take a moment to respond to the site (on this post) and tell us how journaling is going for you? Let us know if it is making a difference in your walk with Jesus and how. Your willingness to share will encourage us all. Thanks,
Brett

We want YOU to post your journal entry!

Monday, February 6th, 2006

We are happy to report that you can share your journal entry with everyone here as well! The First Baptist staff will usually only discuss one of the scripture readings from the day, but you can talk about any scripture from the reading on that day. The current technology we are using to power this blog does not allow everyone to create posts, however, so your entries will need to be placed in the comments section of that particular day.
We are very happy to hear what you have to say and it will be exciting for readers to learn your thoughts on the other passages from the day. Keep up the great work everyone and many thanks to those who have contributed!

How do I use this site? Here’s an overview:

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

The Disciplines of Grace site is actually a web-log, (commonly referred to as a “Blog“). The information on the site is broken down into what are called, “posts.” When you initially browse to www.disciplinesofgrace.com you will be presented with the 10 most current posts. As you scroll down the page the posts descend in date from newest to oldest.

About posts
-You can click on the title of a post to go to it’s respective page. There you will see any comments that have been left concerning that post.
-At the bottom of each post on the main page you will see a link that shows you how many comments the post has. You can also click on this link to navigate to the post’s respective page.
-You can leave a comment concerning a post from it’s respective page at the bottom, (If commenting is enabled).

About comments
-You can read other peoples comments on each post’s respective page.
-You can leave a comment on that same page.
-You must enter your name and email address to submit a comment.
-Comments must first be approved by our staff before they will appear on the website. This may take a day or two.
-All comments will be read by our staff but not all will be approved. We may reply to you by email if we have questions concerning a comment you posted.

About how the site is organized
On the right side of the page you will notice the navigation bar. It is broken down into several categories. Post’s are archived by the month in which they are posted. This appears under “Archives.” Posts are also organized into categories. You can click on a category to see each post that fits that category. You can also search for a term or terms in the search field at the top of the page. This search looks at the body text of all the posts on the site and not the titles.

We hope that this will help you get started. Enjoy the Disciplines of Grace website!
