Congratulations, you finished (now start again)!

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

I can’t believe a year is up and we have read through the Bible! I know for me, it was a very positive experience and I enjoyed reading what God was teaching each of you as well. So I want to congratulate each of you who jumped in and started reading and journaling, I am hopeful that you will join us again and commit yourself to spending time each day in God’s Word.

Some of you have just started this January for the first time, and some of us who just finished last years reading schedule will now join with you. Please take time to share your comments and thoughts with the rest of us. If you are not journaling with others, that is very much worth doing. I have found that even once a week it is nice to meet friends over a cup of coffee and read and journal together. Check the Sunday bulletin for times and places and join in. Have another great year in God’s Word, it is fresh and new every day, abides forever and has the power to change our lives. What a blessing that we can read it together.

Welcome to the Disciplines of Grace Web-Log

Tuesday, January 24th, 2006

I am convinced that the Disciplines of Grace Journal will be a life changing endeavor for all who choose to join in, I hope you make that choice. The purpose of this web log is to give our big church another way of feeling a little smaller and to give you a voice, a place to share what you are learning from God’s Word. Every day someone will share their journal entry on the site, we hope it will encourage you and maybe even prompt you to respond with questions or comments or even share your journal entry for that day. Together we can learn from God’s Word and from His people.

The scheduled contributors will be pastors from the church, but we will ask others to contribute to help represent different perspectives. Entries are not to be considered “teaching” or “authoritative” rather, they are one person’s insights on a portion of God’s Word and how they are choosing to respond. In other words… what you find on this page does not necessarily represent the beliefs of First Baptist Church, to find our core beliefs I would encourage you to link to FBC Beliefs.

From time to time we may post helpful links to give either historical or cultural background on the passages we are reading, or articles we have found helpful or pertinent. It is our hope that we can keep the page fresh and ever changing, but our greater hope that you find will it engaging and choose to join in the discussion.
