FBC - College

Corey RoseHello! My name is Corey Rose and I have had the privilege of being the College Pastor of Collegiate Christian Fellowship (also known as CCF) since 1984. CCF is the College Ministry of First Baptist Church and is geared to serving and encouraging college-age people. After all, what could be better, worse, more exciting, more demanding, more enlightening, more confusing, and more challenging than your years as a college-age person? Yes, we understand what being college-age means: 1) Having to deal with difficult questions like: Who am I? What’s my purpose in life? Why am I here? What am I going to do with my life? 2) Struggling to determine your values and priorities in life? 3) Trying to gain a grip on relationships (no explanation needed!); 4) Facing the uncertainties of the future such as: Where will I end up? What will I do? Who will I marry? Will I ever get married? (Will I ever get a date?!).

That’s why CCF is so committed to helping college-age find solid, practical, real-life answers for life’s real demands in a great college-age setting? Let me try to capture a little more clearly what CCF is like:

It’s casual and informal – It’s the kind of setting where you can come as you are and mix it up with other college-age people in a relaxed atmosphere.

It’s relevant and passionate – We seek to deal with issues that really matter to the college-age person of today.

It’s biblical and Christ-centered – We believe the Bible is God’s Word and holds the key to experiencing life to the fullest. We believe that key is found in knowing and growing in the person of Jesus Christ, and we are unashamedly excited to share Him with others.

It’s authentic and dynamic – It’s alive with genuine people, whose lives are being changed and who aren’t afraid to share about their failures, as well as, their successes. It’s also filled with opportunities to get involved from small groups to weekend beach escapes, from service to short-term mission projects, from outreach ministries to worship teams, from leadership training to sports events, just to name a few.

It’s fun – Yes, we do take God seriously, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously. CCF definitely enjoys a good sense of humor, and lots of laughter.

It’s friendship-oriented – We are committed to creating an atmosphere where healthy relationships can flourish...where it’s easy to get better acquainted with other college-age people...where new friends can be found and old ones can be cultivated...where friendships can be made to last a lifetime.
